Literary radio platform: a unique live project at the festival

Literary radio © DR

On the occasion of the 22ᵉ edition of the Livres & Musiques festival, the FabLab des Franciscaines set up a 3-hour literary radio set, broadcast live on Saturday May 10. To highlight their motivation and appetite for literature and the sound arts, ten people, supported by the area's relay structures, were invited to take part in this action.

This unique project led to a partnership with Ouest Track, a radio station based in Le Havre, to develop the festival's local communications.

During this creative moment, interviews were conducted with the guest authors, along with readings from the books in the 2025 selection, as well as specific music-related content.

A successful project that enabled the participants to gain self-confidence in public speaking, while validating certain skills as part of their professional retraining and social integration process.

A look back at a weekend where music met words

Jean-Louis Ezine © Sandrine Boyer-Engel

Wonderful looks, infectious enthusiasm and a standing ovation... On Tuesday April 29, over 3,000 secondary school students thrilled to the Centre International de Deauville, during an unforgettable ceremony organized by the City of Deauville, Les Franciscaines and Espaces Culturels E.Leclerc de Normandie.

The high point of a weekend rich in emotion, this distinction was followed by an exceptional musical reading, conceived by Anne-Marie Philipe, with Léonor de Récondo (violin) and Jean-Louis Ezine (cello), a sensitive tribute to the vocation of the Prize, to make heard the singular voice of a writer inspired by music.

La chaise is a poignant, melodic tale, traversed by the silences of childhood, the secrets of filiation and the evocative power of music.

Since 2004, this prize has illustrated the natural link between literature and music, two pillars of Deauville's cultural life, now supported by Les Franciscaines. For three days, Les Franciscaines vibrated to the rhythm of literary encounters, musical readings, book signings, concerts, a festive gypsy ball... An edition full of vitality, sharing and creation.

Our thanks to the members of the jury and to all the partners of this year's event for their loyal commitment to contemporary creation.

The Prix des Ados was awarded on Tuesday April 29 in front of over 3,000 3ᵉ and 2nde students and in the presence of Philippe Augier, Mayor of Deauville and Michel-Edouard Leclerc, long-standing partner of the Prix.

Nearly 6,000 middle and high school students in Normandy were mobilized to read and study the four competing novels in class: Amy pour la vie by Sophian Fanen, Les petites voleuses by Claire Renaud, Enquêtes & Charleston by Mélanie Bantignies and Joan Badez says no to injustice by Jeanne Detallante.

Marie Barsacq, the French Minister for Sport, Youth and the Voluntary Sector, took the opportunity to send a video message of congratulations to all those involved in the Prize, and praised Deauville's initiative in offering young people "a space for freedom, imagination and reflection". A fine illustration of the ambition Deauville has been pursuing for over 20 years: to encourage young people to enjoy reading, the first key to accessing culture!

Prix des Ados: 17th edition of the must-attend literary event for young people in Normandy

Le Prix des Ados 2025 © Zoé Deville

Once again this year, the Prix des Ados is back for its 17th edition! The big award ceremony will take place on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at the Centre des Congrès in Deauville, in front of over 3,000 secondary school students, in the presence of the authors. The ceremony promises to be a warm one, punctuated by musical sequences.

Since its inception, the Livres & Musiques festival has been promoting access to books and reading among young audiences. Created in 2009 with the support of Espaces Culturels Leclerc de Normandie and their booksellers, the Prix des Ados is a literary prize awarded by nearly 6,000 Normandy3rd and2nd graders.

This year, the 2025 edition mobilizes more than 5400 registered students, from a hundred schools in the five Normandy departments. The reading committee selected four books inspired by music and offered by Espaces Culturels Leclerc to each participating class to read and work on: Enquête & Charleston, Amy pour la vie, Les petites voleuses & Joan Baez says no to injustice.

In parallel with this grand ceremony, which takes place on April 29, educational workshops based on the books in the selection will be offered to schoolchildren in attendance, as well as discovery tours of the Franciscaines, enriching this day of exchanges.
